Please follow these procedures in completing a fresh Windows 2000 Installation using an Adaptec 19160 SCSI adapter.

1.) Start with the computer turned off.

6.) The Windows 2000 Setup program will start. On the bottom of the blue screen, there will be a message: 'Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver..'. Press F6
within 5 seconds.
7.) After several minutes of loading system files, a message will appear indicating that 'Setup could not determine the type.' of storage device in the system. Choose the first option 'to specify additional SCSI adapters..', by pressing the 'S' key.
8.) A message will appear that states ' Please insert Disk A: ' Insert the Adaptec Windows 2000 driver disk into your floppy drive, then press enter. The following screen displays a prompt to insert the manufacturer's support disk into Drive A, and then press the
Enterkey.
9.) Several choices will be displayed on the screen in a box. Hit the 'Down Arrow' key to show the last entry, which is the Windows 2000 driver for the 19160 controller:

10.) The most common mistake made when installing Windows 2000 is selecting the wrong driver during the installation of the 19160 card.
